Mama’s Boy

We returned home late from a band concert the other night, and sent my drowsy 11-year-old right up to bed.

A few minutes later, he came back down, hand over his throat.

“Mom,” he says with a worried look. “My throat is feeling very funny. It’s fine one minute, but then all of a sudden it gets really hot. It’s not like it hurts or anything, though.”

“Okay, well, have you been in contact with any animals that aren’t hypoallergenic today?” I ask, since he’s allergic to dander.

“No,” he says, staring at me with a look of despair. “But, Mom, I . . . I think may have caught your hot flashes.”

Oh my.

About Me:

Hi! My name is Becky. I’m a mom, a wife, a friend, a writer, and a compulsive thinker. Don't invite me to a spa or to shop the day away, but rather, make me laugh, engage me in interesting conversation, play a game with me, or give me a cappuccino and homemade vanilla bean flan and I’m yours ‘til the cows come home.
