Today I’m Grateful for: The Positive Power of Gratitude

So often we rush from task to task and day to day without ever stopping and truly acknowledging our gratitude for the simple things in life.

With that, here’s my gratitude list on this, the final day of January.

Today I’m grateful for:

Closing the door on January’s sorry behind,

February’s welcome brevity,

Spring break vacation being just around the corner,

The pseudo-sophisticated, weekly intrigue that is Downton Abbey,

Formidable old dames like Isobel Crawley and the Dowager Countess,

The progression of women’s rights since the 1920’s despite the long way we still have to go,

Silly purple bows on silky black dogs,

Beach movies, flower catalogs, and cruise commercials that relay the promise of warm weather moments to come,

State band concerts and reuniting with my saxophone-playing son who has been away for three long days,

Seahawks and Patriots and hibernating Bears,

Remaining steadfastly on my feet,

My husband: “the shore to my crashing wave”,

Continued “Determination,”

Thick gloves,

and fuzzy scarves,

and creamy, steamy coffee,

And for forging ahead boldly, bravely, yet blindly into the mysterious blogosphere.

In a word, what are you grateful for?

Several January days topping 60 degrees – in Nebraska!
Two loyal cats who always find a way to be smooshed next to me on my sofa.
    Good health.
Friends who don’t forget me,even though I am far away.
My Grandkids – they are so delightful and always bring a smile to my face.
The internet – without it I know I would not be connected to so many treasured friends.
God, who gives all good things.

My steadfast and loyal hubby, my charismatic kiddos, and my mother who defines “grace”……and visions of spring!
